AURORA MoDEL MoToRING THUNDERJET 500 HO SLOT CAR RUNNER BATMAN ROBIN BATMOBILE SLOTCAR Popular Body Style - TV Television Series Crossover This sale consists of one (1) vintage AURORA slotcar. This Ford Motors Corporation Lincoln Futura slot car is black with red trim & red bats on doors. Body is very clean. Both posts have slight stress splits but hold screws nicely. Box is fair and accompanies this sale. Track tested solid rivet chassis. I will let the over sized photo(s) speak for themselves. OVERALL CONDITION IS MUCH BETTER THAN VERY GOOD PLUS LINCOLN FUTURA - Slightly Used Runner with a Popular Body Style. As the story goes... In 1955, the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company designed and built a futuristic concept car called the Lincoln Futura.It was built entirely by hand in Turin, Italy at a cost of $250,000.00 and like many concept cars was never put in to production. In the mid 1960s, George Barris of Barris Kustom City acquired the car for $1.00 directly from Ford Motors. In August of 1965, the Batman TV show producers approached George to have him build a new Batmobile for their upcoming show. The only catch was the car had to be ready for action in a mere three weeks. Seeing the bat-like qualities his Futura already had George felt his Futura was the perfect answer to the newly created 20th Century Fox program. Three weeks later in October of 1965, the Batmobile was born and television history was made.
